Mon March 31

Marked tests will be returned today.
In the previous unit, we learned that Erikson's theory had 8 stages.  The stage that Erikson said occurs during the teenage years is identity versus role confusion. You have probably already heard of the term "identity crisis".
  • Another theorist, by the name of James Marcia, took Erikson's concept of identity crisis a step further. We will look at Marcia's theory today
Like the 'How we Choose Friends' note we took on Friday, today's note on Marcia's identity theory will be needed for your next evaluation, a short written paper (more details coming soon)

Fri March 28

Please submit your 'androgyny thinking task', now due.  Two different concepts today:

1. Recall: Sandra Bem suggested that androgyny was the ideal approach to one's gender.
She also produced a list of suggestions for how parents could protect their kids from gender stereotyping.  Click here for a copy of her recommendations.

2. We all know how important friends are, especially during teenage years.  Have you ever thought about HOW we choose?
